Dr. Barteaux was born in Birtle, Manitoba, and grew up on the family farm. He later attended the University of Winnipeg and earned a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, before transferring to the optometry program at the University of Waterloo, graduating as a Doctor of Optometry in 2009. Dr. Barteaux’s training included externships at the Barnett Dulaney Perkins Surgical Centre in Mesa Arizona, primary care rotations in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and an internship at the University of Waterloo.
After completing his studies, Dr. Barteaux began living and practicing in Morden, and Carman Manitoba for several years before moving to Winnipeg, where he now lives with his wife Alissa, two sons, and Iris the yellow labrador. He is active with the Manitoba Association of Optometrists, having recently served as president from 2020-2022. In spare moments, he can be found reading, cycling, or tending to his garden.
